What is a poetry slam?
A competition where poets compete between 1-3 times rounds in front of the audience and 3 judges for bragging rights a spot on a slam team or a cash prize. Winner Takes All!!!!
Rules & Regulations to enter slam:
-Must register by April 1st
-Arrive at the venue no later than 6 pm
-Be prepared to compete with 2 poems
-Poems will be scored on a system of 10 being the highest 1 being the lowest
-Four Minute Time Limit on poems
- One Point will be deducted for going over 4 minute time limit
-Poems must be original
Plagiarism is an automatic disqualification
-10 Poets 2 Rounds
Who is NoNo the Poet?
NoNo the Poet is a native of South Africa currently in New York who began her career in 2011 performing at slams.
Eventually becoming a recording artist with the release of jazz/neo-soul project "Wet Paint and an author with the release her poetry compilation Soul Vagina. In August 2018 she graced the stage at last year's Tales From The Tongue event and the people have been awaiting her return ever since!
